Your guide will meet you bright and early at your Nairobi hotel (confirm pick-up time with your operator). Travel to the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, a heartwarming project dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned elephant calves. Arrive in time to witness the 11:00 am feeding session, a unique opportunity to see the young elephants being cared for by their keepers. (Note: Feeding times can vary slightly depending on the season). Learn about the DSWT’s vital conservation efforts and the challenges faced by elephants in Kenya. You might even have a chance to see some of the elephant mud baths or other enrichment activities depending on the time of your visit. Enjoy a delicious lunch break at a local restaurant (own expense) or a picnic lunch prepared in advance (depending on your chosen operator). You might have a brief stop at a local Kazuri Bead Factory, a women-run cooperative creating beautiful handcrafted beads. (This stop might be subject to time constraints). Travel to the Giraffe Centre, a sanctuary dedicated to the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Upon arrival, you’ll have the unforgettable opportunity to hand-feed these gentle giants from a raised observation platform. Learn about the centre’s conservation efforts to protect giraffes and their habitat. Take photos and enjoy the unique experience of getting up close to these magnificent creatures. Relax and reflect on your day’s adventures as your guide returns you comfortably to your Nairobi hotel.
