Samburu Game Reserve lies on the arid edges of Kenya’s expansive Northern Frontier District. This region is home to the Samburu people, a pastoralist community closely related to the Maasai. Renowned as a safari destination, Samburu boasts a rugged and striking landscape. The Ewaso Nyiro River marks its southern boundary, providing a habitat for crocodiles and hippos while attracting numerous animals seeking water during the hot days. A safari in Samburu offers opportunities to spot wildlife such as buffalo, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and other plains animals. The reserve is also known for its “Special Five” species: the Beisa oryx, long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich with its blue legs. Join us for an unforgettable journey filled with remarkable memories of this unique destination.

It is also home to all the African big cats (lion, cheetah and leopard), alongside other big game including elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, hippos, impala, water-buck and many others. Samburu is also a renowned bird watching haven, with hundreds of bird species resident here. These include kingfisher, bee-eaters, tawny eagle, guinea-fowl, yellow throated spur-fowl, lilac-breasted roller, red-billed horn bill, secretary bird, Verreaux's eagle, superb starling, yellow-billed hornbill and vultures. The unique culture of The Samburu tribe who live in the region is the icing to cake for the amazing Samburu National Reserve.
